Hydrosil BS

HydroSil BS prevents water penetration through walls and roofs as it is exposed to rain, snow, and other forms of moisture. Without a water-repellent seal, water can penetrate through cracks, joints, or porous materials like concrete, brick, or wood, leading to damage to both the exterior and interior of a building.

HydroSil BS consists of ultra fine particles, measured in the millionth of a millimetre. Its special composition enables it to actively bind to mineral surfaces thus providing long-term protection. As HydroSil BS is water-based, it is very easily absorbed into surfaces and does not give off
harmful or solvent vapours.

Due to HydroSil BS’s strong protective abilities, it creates a strong barrier against water, preventing long term issues:

• Protects Against Structural Damage

Water infiltration can weaken the structural integrity of a building over time. Moisture trapped inside walls or roof structures can cause wood rot, rust in metal components, and weakening of concrete and mortar.

• Prevents Mould and Mildew Growth

Damp environments promote the growth of mould, mildew, and algae, which can harm air quality inside the building and lead to health problems for occupants.

• Increases Longevity

Properly sealed roofs and walls can significantly extend the life of the materials used, reducing the need for frequent repairs or replacements. For example, bricks and concrete can erode when exposed to constant moisture, while wood can decay. HydroSil BS helps maintain the material’s original strength and appearance.

• Energy Efficiency

Water that seeps into walls and roofs can also impact insulation, making a building less energy efficient. When insulation becomes damp, its effectiveness is reduced, leading to increased heating and cooling costs.

• Prevents Freeze-Thaw Damage

In colder climates, water that seeps into cracks or pores in the building material can freeze and expand, causing cracks to widen or materials to break apart. HydroSil BS reduces water absorption and minimises freeze-thaw cycles.

• Enhances Aesthetic Appearance

Constant exposure to water can cause unsightly stains, discoloration, and efflorescence (white salt deposits) on walls. HydroSil BS helps to keep them looking clean and well-maintained.

HydroSil BS should be applied directly to a clean and dry surface. Apply with a brush, roller, garden sprayer or low pressure spray. One treatment is sufficient for most surfaces however, if required, a second treatment should be undertaken within an hour of the first. This will ensure that the second coat is fully absorbed together with the first. The surface will be dry in approximately 1 hour.

1-litre covers between 4 - 5 m2 depending upon porosity of surface.

How does Hydrosil BS keep a building clean?

Hydrosil BS is formulated to be easily absorbed into mineral surfaces. This will have a number of beneficial effects one of which is that less water will be absorbed into the surface meaning that water (rainwater) run-off will be quicker which will wash more atmospheric dirt from the surface keeping areas clean.

I have moss on my roof, when should I apply Hydrosil BS?

We recommend applying the Hydrosil BS once you have removed all moss from the roof.
